Watan Development & Initiative Organization (WDIO) views agriculture as central to livelihoods and food security in Afghanistan. The organization is expanding its work in this sector to promote sustainable farming, environmental protection, and community resilience.

WDIO supports climate-smart agriculture, skills development for farmers and youth, and community-based natural resource management to improve productivity while protecting ecosystems. It also addresses land degradation through reforestation, soil conservation, and awareness on sustainable land use.

To respond to water scarcity, WDIO promotes efficient irrigation and water conservation practices. In addition, agriculture is integrated into broader livelihood programs to help vulnerable households diversify income, strengthen food security, and adapt to climate risks.
